The sea has always been a source of inspiration for the Portuguese, and the subject of an age-old love affair. It was the sea which allowed us to become a nation of explorers, and it has also brought us nostalgia, parting sorrow and lost loves, not to mention the 'saudade' - that feeling of nostalgic longing for something which one was fond of and which is lost.
But it also taught us how it feels to come home. And in this way, it also brought us the art of entertaining, the pleasure of receiving guests and the charm of a warm welcome. Nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable holiday, which is why we have so many hotels, campsites, Pousada hotels and Solares manor houses both inland and on the coast, where every visitor receives a warm welcome.
