The Visa Waiver Program Powered by ESTA
The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is the automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and whether such travel poses any law enforcement or security risk. All VWP travelers are required to obtain a travel authorization via ESTA prior to traveling to the U.S. and are recommended to do so at least 72 hours before their travel date. ESTA is accessible online at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov and will soon be available as a mobile app for citizens and eligible nationals of VWP countries.
