Uit liefde voor Suriname zijn wij ontstaan. Wij, Edward en Marijke, zijn Travelsuriname, een klein gespecialiseerd reisbureau met heel veel reiservaring: we hebben zelf veel over de wereld gereisd. Wij houden van reizen en we houden in het bijzonder van Suriname en we willen dit graag met iedereen delen. Edward is geboren en opgegroeid in Suriname en we gaan vaak terug voor familiebezoek en vakantie. We kennen het land dus zeer goed, we hebben uitstekende contacten maar we weten ook wat de Nederlandse reiziger wil. Edward : Ik ben geboren en getogen Surinamer. Ik heb in Suriname zowel op de lagere school als op de middelbare school gezeten. Hieraan heb ik mooie herinneringen opgebouwd bijvoorbeeld met mijn vrienden in de scouting, kamperen in het bos of voetballen op straat maar ook de trips naar het binnenland. Mijn vader, tantes, ooms, neven, nichten en vrienden wonen nog altijd in Suriname. Ik kom ieder jaar meerdere keren in Suriname om mijn vader, familie en vrienden te bezoeken maar ook om te genieten van het land. In 1999 ontmoette ik Marijke en vanaf die tijd gaan we samen naar Suriname. Onze kinderen komen er vanaf dat ze 3 maanden oud zijn en we nemen ze overal mee naar toe, zo zorgen we dat alles wat wij aanbieden geschikt is voor alle leeftijden. Iedereen de terugkomt uit Suriname spreekt over de prachtige natuur en het ongedwongen en open contact met de locals. Wij delen deze ervaring graag met jou. Tijdens al onze trips en tours maak je kennis met ons mooie Suriname en heb je contact met echte Surinamers. Wij doen dit in een reis op maat. Jij bepaalt dus jouw eigen route en tempo. Marijke : Ik heb Edward leren kennen in 1999. Toen kende ik Suriname helemaal niet. Edward vroeg me of ik zijn land wilde leren kennen waarop ik natuurlijk meteen ja zei. Vervolgens stelde hij een verblijf van 3 weken bij zijn ouders voor. Dit vond ik best spannend en heb gevraagd of we van die 3 weken minimaal 1 week de jungle in konden gaan. Zo gezegd zo gedaan. Ik vond (en vind) het geweldig om de jungle in te varen, dit blijft iedere keer weer een overweldigende ervaring !! Dit doen we dus al meer dan 20 jaar, ieder jaar één of meerdere keren naar familie maar ook naar de plantages en de jungle. Ook met onze kinderen, vanaf hun geboorte zijn zij altijd meegegaan. Ik bekijk Suriname net wat meer door een Europese bril, de bril van onze meeste reizigers, hierdoor begrijp ik de wensen en behoeftes die er zijn vaak goed. De combinatie met de kennis en ervaring van Edward als Surinamer en mijn Europese blik blijkt een hele goede. Veel reizigers komen enthousiast terug en worden dan ook, net als ik, een beetje verliefd op Suriname !
