Acatenango is an impressive volcano in Guatemala, with a summit reaching a height of 3,976 meters. The climb is a popular multi-day trek for adventurous travelers. Along the way, you’ll hike through a variety of landscapes, from lush forests to rugged volcanic slopes.
But the absolute highlight? From the campsite on the mountain, you have a view of the neighboring Fuego volcano. This active volcano regularly spews ash clouds and even glowing lava flows. Especially when it gets dark, it makes for a spectacular sight.
The climb to the summit requires a great deal of perseverance, but the view and the unique experience make it unforgettable for many travelers.
